How long will my project take to complete?

Total lead time can take a month or more.  The first step is coming to an agreement on the renovation plan and cost estimates and executing a contract.  Once the contract is signed, permit applications and drawings need to be submitted to your town.  Towns can take about two weeks to approve them.  During the wait, materials are ordered, and work schedules created.  Once the permits are acquired, work can begin.  The estimated time to complete once work begins is about two and a half weeks-- that is adversely impacted by the known unknowns of subcontractor schedules, town inspection schedules, material delays, cure times for mortar &/or grout, and change orders.

Do I need to do anything to prepare the construction area?

Yes, in the immediate construction area, all personal belongings should be removed to another location in your home.  Any living areas immediately adjacent to the work space can also be emptied or draped if you prefer to do so.

What requirements will the workers have?

1) An area identified as the approved location of the dumpster
2) A designated area where the tile saw (wet saw) can be paced outside, where a garden hose and electricity can be easily accessed.

3) A designated water source for mixing mortar and grout.
4) Access  to the work area from 8 am - 4 pm, M-F
5) Rules for how/where you want vehicles parked.
6) Identify which access/egress point(s) in your home workers may use.
7) Identify a specific bathroom workers may use, or advise that bathrooms may not be used by workers- if that is your preference.

8) A designated area for delivery and storage of materials, (tiles, vanity, lumber, sheet rock, etc.)

Will the workers be careful in my home?

Absolutely.  We treat your home as if it was our own.
Workers will place non-skid floor coverings from the entry of your home to the work area to mitigate tracking.
Plastic sheeting will be used to create dust barriers during demolition, and for draping any furniture or belongings near the work area.
The construction site is cleaned up daily, (broom clean).
Workers are very pet friendly and will take care to ensure pets are not let out (either intentionally or accidently) without owners explicit consent.

What is "uncoupling?"

Structures move. There is movement seasonally as humidity levels rise and fall, and the natural shifting and settling process of the structure and the ground it sits on is another form of movement.  You invested time and money to install your beautiful new tile floor... how frustrating would it be to have a huge crack develop across your floor in a few years?

Uncoupling is a product put down on the subfloor before laying new tile.  If the floor under the uncoupling moves, shifts, cracks, the uncoupling is the surface that the tiles are affixed to and provides the tiles with a buffer from any shifting.  It "uncouples" the tile from the floor, so that movement in the floor does not have any affect on the tiles and grout.

What is my payment schedule?
